A message from space to our blue marble:
And here is the executive summary: “Our Story in 1 Minute” (somewhat reminiscent of the BigBangTheory Intro Sequence) by melodysheep
The following footage taken from the International Space Station left me speechless anyway: “View from the ISS at Night” by Knate Myers (fullscreen view is a must)
[Just realizing I haven’t been posting much here for the last 3 months …. tststs. Shame on me.
I guess commenting, updating and twittering interesting links is a quick fix for the moment, reserving blog-posts for more in-depth considerations. In the meantime, we had an austrian successfully falling from the sky (and other things ), but anyway here’s the rest of what I posted early August:]
In anticipation of the Mars-Landing today, take the time for a look at the sky tonight:
Of course, for the amateur stargazer, by now there is a (brilliant!) app for that:
SkyView Free – Explore the Universe by Terminal Eleven:
It’s especially stunning when pointing it at some constellations at night and it overlays the camera picture with additional infos – giving a sense of “the internet of things” going galactic.
(Thanks to Deniz (the Menace) for showing (off with) the app)

A brief overview of the universe and the human condition:
We create the seemingly impossible and make it all compute – except for the incomputable […]
death escapes nobody, our capacity for evil never diminishes –
we do the impossible, but nature humbles us more often than not – […]
the challenges never stop, we hold on to hope because that’s what we do best –
Happy New Year !
